Tracer Gas Detector

Tracer gas detection is an alternate method for pinpointing pipe leaks when sonic detection isn’t possible or a secondary method to confirm location is required. It is done by filling plumbing lines with a tracer gas mixture that is then picked up by an electronic gas detector where it escapes through the leak. The leak will be in the general vicinity of where the gas was detected. It is a particularly useful method in situations where pool plumbing runs through rocky or loose soil or in commercial applications. The Loktracer TLD500 Hydrogen Detector is used with a 5% Hydrogen/95% Nitrogen gas mixture and works by sounding an alarm and illuminating LED lights when a trace amount of hydrogen gas is detected.
